Parent's Preparing
This class is offered monthly on Saturdays. It covers pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care as well as breathing techniques and relaxation. A tour of the maternal/child areas is also included at the end of the course.
Baby…You Mean Babies!
Your physician gives you the news…you are having twins, triplets, or quadruplets! What are your first thoughts? Take a deep breath and let Women & Children’s Hospital help you learn, prepare and plan. This class is taught by a registered nurse who is also a mother of twins.
Baby Basics
This is especially for first time parents, but others are certainly welcome to refresh their memory! Baby Basics focuses on the essentials of baby care such as diapering, feeding, bathing, dressing and safety in and around the home.
Breastfeeding
Covers techniques to help make breatfeeding a positive experience for mother and baby. Class is taught by a board certified lactation consultant.
Infant Massage
Whether your baby is a newborn or several months old, massage can bring immediate and lasting results. Expectant parents often take infant massage prenatally so they are ready to begin this wonderful loving touch from the start.
Mothering the Laboring Mother
This class is focuses on natural childbirth for the mother to be and her support person. Covers comfort measures, labor management techniques, labor, and the birth process.
Sibling Class
This class is for future big brothers and big sisters that are at least three years of age. The class is geared toward their acceptance of the new baby and how important they are in the process. The children are able to tour the maternal/child areas so that they will feel comfortable when visiting mom and baby in the hospital.
Pediatric Basic Life Support
This class trains parents, grandparents and other care givers in Infant and Child CPR. This class includes CPR from birth to 8 years of age.
