Neonatal Intensive Care
The NICU nursery is designed to care for infants that are premature or ill, who have special needs such as respiratory support. The staff caring for these infants consist of Registered Nurse's, respiratory therapist, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, and a Physician(Neonatalologist) that specializes in the care of pre-term or sick neonates. We realize that having an infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit can be an emotionally trying time. We place special emphasis on including you in the care of your baby.
Our visitation guidelines allow you to see your baby as often as you like with only minor restrictions. Grandparents and siblings are also allowed and encouraged to visit. A multi-disciplinary team approach is used in caring for our special babies in the NICU. This team includes the Neonatologist, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, bedside nurses, social worker, and occupational therapist. We focus on family centered care which encourages and promotes parent-infant bonding and attachment.
If anticipating a pre-term delivery, stop by and see our newly renovated unit and state-of-the-art equipment. A special part of our Neonatal Services include a Neonatal Transport Team. This team is comprised of specially trained RN's, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Respiratory Therapist, and Neonatologist. This team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team travels to surrounding hospitals and transports critically ill newborns from a hospital without a neonatal intensive care unit into our Level III NICU.
Special provisions are made to accommodate the parents of infants transported in. We also provide the family with a 1-800 number to facilitate communication when visitation is limited due to distance. Please contact us anytime at 337-475-4171.
