Women & Children’s Hospital to Host Free Healthy Woman Event on Thursday, July 5
Local black belt instructor to demonstrate self defense moves for women
Lake Charles, La. (June 25, 2012) - Women & Children’s Hospital (WCH) will host their next free Healthy Woman event on Thursday, July 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Charles Country Club located at 3350 Country Club Drive.
The topic for this month’s event is Self Defense for Women and will be led by local Master Instructor Carla Prejean of ATA Black Belt Academy. “Women will learn about certain risk behaviors to avoid when walking alone and the moves to defend themselves against an attacker,” said Nadia Nazeer, Healthy Woman program coordinator. “As women, we are constantly multi-tasking and don’t always pay attention to our surroundings. It’s important for us to know how to defend ourselves in any situation,” Nazeer added.
Women ages 25 and up are encouraged to attend the seminar and are encouraged to wear comfortable attire to be able to participate in the demonstrations. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 5:45 p.m. Anyone interested in attending this event or in joining Healthy Woman should go online to register at www.women-childrens.com/healthywoman or call Nadia Nazeer at 337-475-4064 to reserve your place by 5 pm, Tuesday, July 3. Door prizes and refreshments will be served following the program.
